Interpeak, a pioneer of Internet and secure
networking software for embedded systems, announced its plan to
write a protection profile for its secure and trusted protocol stacks.
The protection profile is a part of Interpeak's Trusted Stack initiative.
The Secure and Trusted Stack Protection Profile (STS-PP) specifies
the security and functional assurance requirements for a class of
IPv6 networking. A stack evaluated against this Protection Profile
serves as a trusted foundation in security critical and complex
applications. In order to work in tandem with embedded designs based
on MILS (Multiple Independent Layers of Security/Safety) architecture,
an IPv6 stack must meet the rigorous Information Assurance (IA)
requirements of the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP).

A MILS-based architecture design is used for creating secure systems,
predominantly in the military and aerospace markets, in which data
is compartmentalized. The design relies on a separation kernel,
which ensures the control of information flow, and establishes and
maintains trusted delivery, trusted recovery and audit capabilities.
Interpeak outlined this initiative for members of The Open Group
last month, at an Open Group meeting in Barcelona, Spain. Interpeak
discussed complete details and product roadmaps for a High Assurance
IPv6 networking stack with no foreign code or influence. Work on
this program has already commenced; key accomplishments thus far
include membership in The Open Group and the start of the protection
profile. The company will collaborate with the U.S. Department of
Defense (DoD) system integrators and the Open Group during the design
and implementation of these products.
"Interpeak is honored to join the roster of members of The
Open Group," commented Johan Fornaeus, Interpeak's CEO. "The
consortium provides an unbiased perspective and offers a litmus
test for proposed security and networking standards. We look forward
to leveraging the group's collective experience and knowledge as
we work towards our protection profile."
About the Open Group
The Open Group is a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium, which
works towards enabling access to integrated information within and
between enterprises based on open standards and global interoperability.
With more than 200 member organizations and 6,000 participants,
the Open Group provides a range of services to its members, other
consortia, and government agencies, including strategy, management,
innovation and research, certification services, and standards services.
Its role is to capture, understand and address current and emerging
requirements, establish policies and share best practices; to facilitate
interoperability, develop consensus, and evolve and integrate specifications
and open source technologies; to offer a comprehensive set of services
to enhance the operational efficiency of consortia; and to operate
the industry's premier certification service. Further information

Industry Leaders Offer Integrated Communications Middleware-Networking
Solution for Embedded Applications, IPv6 Compatibility also Announced
| Herndon, Virginia and Stockholm, Sweden -
2006-01-30 |
|
The steady proliferation of networked embedded
systems has created demand for increased performance of these systems.
Today, Objective Interface Systems, the global leader in high-performance,
real-time and embedded communications middleware, and Interpeak,
a pioneer of Internet and networking technology for embedded systems,
announced a technology integration that results in higher-performance
embedded systems on a network.
In addition, Objective Interface addressed the next-generation
Internet Protocol (IP) standard, IPv6, a standard that the U.S.
Department of Defense (DoD) has mandated for implementation by 2008.
Objective Interface's portfolio of communications middleware products
will support Interpeak's IPv6 solutions, allowing engineers to create
high-performance, IPv6-compliant embedded systems on a network.

Objective Interface has collaborated with Interpeak on software
optimizations that enhance the performance of networked embedded
applications, such as Software Defined Radio (SDR) and cellular
base stations. Specifically, communications middleware products
from Objective Interface, ORBexpress and PCSexpress
as well as an upcoming publish-subscribe product based on the Data
Distribution Service (DDS) standard, support TCP/IP stacks and modules
from Interpeak-bringing higher performance to networked embedded
systems. Objective Interface products will support both IPv4 and
IPv6 compatibility with Interpeak's IPLITE, an embedded TCP/IP stack
for IPv4/IPv6 standards, and Interpeak's IPNET, a full-featured
TCP/IP stack specifically designed for embedded real-time systems.
"Objective Interface communications middleware enables programmers
to simplify the development of distributed embedded applications.
It facilitates the design of scalable, portable and high-performance
applications while adding virtually no overhead to the systems using
our commercially available middleware products. Interpeak offers
best-in-class networking solutions for embedded systems. Together,
our companies provide an integrated software solution for high-performance
embedded systems on any network," said Joe Jacob, senior vice
president of Objective Interface Systems. "Objective Interface
and Interpeak are at the forefront of supporting the latest IP standards.
Our integrated technologies support the development of high-performance
IPv6-compatible networked embedded systems-years before the Department
of Defense mandates IPv6 compatibility."
"Networking your embedded systems can create a variety of
problems for users," said Johan Fornaeus, CEO of Interpeak.
"Our collaboration with Objective Interface, a company renowned
for its high-performance communications middleware solutions, offers
users a fully optimized middleware-networking solution that improves
performance, reduces development time, and increases speed-to-market."
About IPv6
IPv6 is the next-generation Internet protocol standard, designed
by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to replace the current
version Internet Protocol, IP Version 4 (IPv4) standard. IPv6 was
designed to compensate for the shortage of available IPv4 addresses.
It also provides quality of service (QoS) benefits over IPv4, with
additional improvements in the areas of routing, multicasting, security,
mobility and network auto-configuration.
Objective Interface Communications Middleware
The Objective Interface portfolio of communications middleware products
includes ORBexpress and PCSexpress. The company will also soon offer
a publish-subscribe communications middleware product based on the
DDS standard. ORBexpress is the world's fastest and smallest full-featured
real-time ORB. Thousands of customers worldwide have used ORBexpress
to build a better communications infrastructure in hundreds of products.
Available in C++, Ada and Java, ORBexpress conforms to the Common
Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) standard that enables
applications in heterogeneous environments to communicate seamlessly.
PCSexpress is based on the Partitioning Communications Systems (PCS),
the Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS) middleware technology
that was invented by Objective Interface. PCSexpress provides highly
robust separation of data throughout a network system. It is ideally
suited for security-critical applications.
Availability
The technical integration for Objective Interface ORBexpress and
Interpeak's embedded TCP/IP solutions is available today. The technical
integration for Objective Interface PCSexpress and the company's
future publish-subscribe middleware communications product will
be available as those products come to market. For more information

Interpeak, a pioneer of Internet and secure
networking software for embedded systems, has been recognized as
the fortieth fastest-growing technology company in Europe, the Middle
East and Africa by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) in its annual
Technology Fast 500 Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The Technology Fast 500 Awards are given by Deloitte each year,
based on percentage revenue growth over a five-year period. Interpeak's
five-year growth was 1,978 percent compared to an average of 935
percent among all 500 companies.
In November 2005, Deloitte cited Interpeak as the second fastest-growing
technology company in its Sweden Technology Fast 50 Awards. Established
in 1995, the Deloitte Fast 50 ranks the 50 fastest-growing technology
companies by geographic region. Winners of the regional Fast 50
programs are automatically eligible for the Fast 500 program in
their area.
"Software's prevalence in this year's list of winners confirms
that the software sector continues to thrive as it meets the demand
created by the increased adoption of Internet technologies across
the world," said Johan Fornaeus, CEO of Interpeak. "We
are extremely proud to join our fellow Fast 500 winners and look
forward to another year of significant growth."
