Mission-critical products are often enabled with networking software. Developers demand commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software in an effort to reduce associated development and maintenance costs. At the same time, mission-critical applications typically include an additional set of specific requirements with respect to safety, security, and reliability. It is essential to find commercially available networking software that can satisfy COTS requirements while conforming to mission-critical safety, security and reliability requirements.

In addition, IPv6 is becoming an increasingly important consideration. The United States Department of Defense (DoD) has mandated that all new applications must be IPv6-compliant by 2008. This mandate has increased the need for Interpeak's secure and IPv6-ready networking software.

Today, Interpeak products are used in several safety- and mission-critical applications demanding certifications such as EAL and DO-178B, in combination with INTEGRITY-178B, a Level A certified operating system.
